Mobile road block

Once, far, far away in the mists of time – about 20 years ago, life was simpler, surer and safer.  Today there are so many elements seeking to cause unrest and even damages and death that the need for mobile security systems such as a mobile road block is an essential part of any security organizations essential equipment.

The mobile road block has become an essential piece of military and homeland security equipment and is also finding increasing uses in private, corporate and large infrastructure facilities.  The need for a mobile road block stems from a number of reasons.  One is cost; the cost of a permanent road block is excessive and in a world where even homeland security must be cost conscious, permanent roadblocks are often a luxury.

Another and perhaps more prevalent reason for the increase in mobile road block usage is the constantly changing face of security needs and the increasingly varied and unforeseen security threats that security forces are called upon to deal with.

This demands that a security team be able to react quickly to possible threats and deploy into the affected area with all the equipment and resources needed.  Fast response means mobility which in its turn brings a need for equipment such as a mobile road block that is relatively portable, can be deployed with ease and yet be capable of meeting all the challenges the enemy has to throw at it.

Mobile road block considerations

There are a number of factors that must be considered when deciding on which type or types of mobile road block are best suited to your organization and its operational needs.  We will look at some mobile road block issues here but be aware that it is advisable to consult with an expert during the process.  Another point to remember is that many factors of mobile road block construction and design are intertwined with one factor affecting many others.

Mobile road block portability considerations.  This covers a number of considerations all of which have consequences regarding operational status and readiness.

Weight – affects transportation and set up issues (number of personnel needed and type of vehicle)

Construction – modular, fixed, can be dismantled.  Again has consequences regarding size and skill of team needed to set up the mobile road block, speed of deployment and versatility (a number of modular units can be used to customize the size of the mobile road block.)

Mobile road block operational considerations – where, against which threats will the mobile road block be used.  Will the mobile road block be used in an urban or rural area, industrial, military, infrastructure or government facility?

Once again, decisions regarding the purchase of a mobile road block system are complex with a huge number of factors that must be taken into consideration.  The reason for using a mobile road block is to protect property and people.  Deciding on a mobile road block that is not suited to your operations needs or capabilities could lead to disastrous results!
